Digipak

A DigiPak is a type of packaging for CDs or DVDs, typically made from cardboard with an internal plastic holder for one or more discs.

Digipak-style cases grew in popularity among record labels and recording artists in the early 2000s
Digipak-style packaging is often used for CD singles or special editions of CD albums and the tall DVD Digipak (DVDigipak) is used as a premium package for DVDs and DVD sets. Such packaging is less resistant to abrasion than jewel cases, so it tends to show signs of wear relatively quickly. Licensed digipak manufacturers such as domestic U.S. printer and disc replicator Oasis Disc Manufacturing recommend coating the raw printed paper with a protective UV coating, thus ensuring greater longevity.

Similar album covers to ours

We are going to take ideas from the following album covers to make our own. It will likely have a guitar and our artist on it, as these are mainly what organic album covers look like.
These will help us determine the location, brightness and pose our artist undertakes in the photo shoot. However, we are likely to use a darker coloured pictured to show the emotion of the album, therefore the audience can have a feel of what the album will be like and sympathise with the artist before they listen to the songs. 





In these album covers, the artists name is never directly in the middle. This may be because it could interrupt the image, and so they are better off having the name of the album/singer in a corner or away from an important part of the picture e.g. covering the face.
The clothing in these images are all black or white. This shows the organic image that the artists represent, as well as potentially showing the mood of their music. Also, there's never any props in the picture; besides from a microphone. Once again, this microphone further represents the singer being organic, and having no props may also show that the image is creative and that their music is meaningful. Most album covers with the star image similar to ours have a blank background - this could show that the singer is organic.
The images of the artists are all taken so the artist looks like he wasn't posing i.e. they are all natural actions. For example, the first image suggests that he is about to walk out the door, the second one shows he could've been about to start singing, and the last shows that they want us to believe that he wasn't really ready for 2 of the pictures.

Our artist's star image

Our artist is a young man, who likes to play guitar whilst singing. This is aimed at women to watch our video and to like our artist. We've aimed for this group as women are often the biggest fans of love stories and songs, and so we feel that this is relevant.

Our artists image will be organic, shown through the guitar, hat and the fact that he writes his own lyrics as he is the one in the story too. This shows his creativity and talent.

Our star image shows our genre as independent music and soul music as we can see that the song is meaningful to him, whilst having a lot of passion for the lyrics. He is also holding a guitar which further represents his emotion.

Our artists clothing also represents a negative connotation and shows that he feels very down and dull. This also represents his organic appearance as he is wearing no bright clothing.

These artists/images are very similar due to the fact that they are both wearing dark clothing when in the studio with their guitar, but when they are out of the studio, the mood changes to more colour.

Review of shoot day

Shoot day - 13/10/17

I felt we had a successful day of filming for our music video. We filmed all the shots and scenes we aimed to film, keeping to the schedule as best as we could. We also took extra shots from different angles so that we have a wider range of shots to chose from when we come to edit the video.

We filmed at a member of our group's house for all . We filmed all the flashback scenes of the relationship of the couple at an earlier stage. After review of two potential other locations to film on a hill in an open space, either at Hampstead heath or Primrose Hill, we decided on Hampstead Heath. Here we shot the couple the present looking depressed after the relationship ended.

Things to Do:

- Re-film scenes of flashbacks except for Chinese lanterns
- Still need to create time lapse on green screen of busy London road with cars going past behind male actor lip syncing.
- Looking to make significant progress in editing the music video over the next few weeks once all the footage is uploaded on to a platform and the editing software is downloaded.

• Our filming day followed our schedule more or less. We spent a bit longer filming flashbacks at the house and a bit less time for lunch and travel. We devoted the same amount of hours than we planned and it turned out perfectly. We wanted a bit longer filming the lanterns at the end and the time lapse but we ran out of time because of family commitments. We will devote another day to this.

• Filming in our 2 locations were very successful because we planned effectively. Once we arrived, we had a step by step guide on what to do, what shots to use and how long to film it for. This made things very efficient and allowed us to utilise our locations and film in more areas than we expected.

• When planning our shot choices, we always wanted to film every scene in different shots so we had choices and flexibility when it came to editing. We stuck to this very closely however there were some scenes where we used a shot that wasn't on the plan.

• Targets for the next filming day are to film the time lapse of streets of London as well as the lantern scenes with our actors. Stick to the plan and continue to do what we did the first filming day. We all worked very well together as a team.

Risk assessment

We had to be very careful and to do the following things:

-Not drop the camera, causing it to break

-Not let the rain soak the camera and break it

-Fall into the pond

-Throw rocks at people/animals

-Prevent injury from items thrown at actor (in flashback scene)

-Prevent the camera's battery running out

-Prevent the equipment from being stolen

How we stopped these risks:

-Tripod - This stopped the camera from falling.

-Weather report - To make sure there was no rain.

-Staying behind the barrier - We made sure our actors stayed behind the barrier to prevent them from falling in.

-Making sure no one is in the way of the rocks being thrown.

-Our actor wasn't too aggressive throwing the items the other actor.

-We had 2 batteries and a charger to prevent the battery running out.

-We knew exactly where all equipment was at all times.

Cast list for music video

Actors:

Sam Martin - We chose this actor as he portrays exactly what we needed. However, we wanted to give our main actor the 'organic' look, and so we gave him a hat to help this. His lip-syncing was great in his audition as well as being great in our final video.

Jodie Tomlinson - She played the part of the singers ex-girlfriend. Jodie is an experienced actor and this was shown throughout our video. She was great when it came to showing emotion and passion, and her appearance was exactly what we needed.

Filming Crew:

Tommy Lustigman (me) - I feel like that camera work was very good, but could've been a bit better. I could've filmed more shots to widen our range of choice when making the video. Other than that though, I worked well with the others and feel like we achieved what we wanted.

Louis Martin - Louis was the 'quality control' guy and pointed out if we needed any shots added or changed. He also did timings, in order to make sure we didn't over run, as well as driving us to Hampstead.

Oliver Gotkine - He was our great guitar player as well as giving us fresh idea's that had come into his head. He also drove us to Hampstead and was very helpful throughout the day.

Prosumers

Thanks to the internet we have access too infinite information which enables us to share content and pass on knowledge to other people online. Mass conversations online can develop into mass innovation as people pool information, share and create content online. Leadbeater argues that open source networks online enable communities to develop online that can share their knowledge to create new content and learn new skills.
Gaining name recognition enables individuals to become known yet they end up being bought by media companies and appear on TV shows.
