-We used a middle class location (an ordinary house), showing that this could happen to anyone, and not just the poor or rich. For example, there are several incidents you see in the newspaper when an ordinary, middle class person's house gets broken into, such as the link shown below, when an innocent man gets burgled and hurt. Due to this, it more realistic to the target audience.
-This location is similar to the location of Scream, so we were able to make it similar to the film. It was in a dark house, which makes it more scary as it is harder to see what may be in the house.
-Binary opposition was demonstrated in my film as we used an innocent teenager who finds that someone has broken in. This person who broke in is evil in contrast to the innocent teenager. Therefore, it is like an innocent versus evil rivalry.
-We used several different shots, each representing something. For example, we used a high angle shot on the actor to show that the monster dominates this actor. This may make it scarier for the viewers as they know this man may be in trouble.
-We used non-diegetic music to increase tension and make it scarier for viewers. It builds up tension and makes it scarier to watch, and then at the end it may cause the viewers to jump a bit.
